How to transfer photos to a WD My Cloud device?

To connect PhotoSync directly to a WD My Cloud network storage you can either use the SMB file transfer protocol (Windows network shares) or the FTP file transf protocol. Open your WD My Cloud administration in your web browser to make sure that the device is configured properly.

To get the network address of your WD My Cloud and to make sure that FTP access is enabled please change to Settings > Network. The network address is listed in the Network Profile under IPv4 IP Address. If FTP Access is not set to On, you can do that in the Network Services section.

If you want to share specific folders on your WD My Cloud please change to Shares to add new shares or edit existing shares. For each share you need to explicitly enable the FTP access.

In the Users settings you can create you own credentials for the access to your WD My Cloud or can edit existing accounts. If you plan to use the default admin user to connect to your WD My Cloud please make sure that this user gets a password because your are not allowed to connect to the WD My Cloud with FTP if there is an empty password.

PhotoSync configuration

When you have completed the configuration of your WD My Cloud you can add a new connection to the WD My Cloud in PhotoSync. Open the PhotoSync settings, go to Configure > FTP and add a new configuration. Use the following configuration settings:

Protocol FTP
Server The IP address of the WD My Cloud, e.g. 192.168.2.222
Port 21
Login The username to connect to the WD My Cloud
Password The password to connect to the WD My Cloud
Directory Leave empty or enter an existing share
FTP mode Passive or Automatic

If you leave the directory field empty you can choose your share easily after creating the connection to the WD My Cloud in the Destination Folder settings of the FTP configuration.

Tap on Done to create the connection and use it for your transfers.
