How to transfer to/from my Windows computer using a personal hotspot with your USB cable?

If your telecommunications provider allows the use of Personal Hotspot on your iOS device, you can use it to transfer via USB between your iOS device and your Windows computer when you do not have a Wi-Fi network available.

Activate the Personal Hotspot on your iOS device. You can find it in the iOS settings under Personal Hotspot or, if you have not used it before, under Cellular > Personal Hotspot.

To find out the internet address (IP address) of your iPhone, please open PhotoSync and tap on the red transfer button and then on the Receive tab.

Activate the personal hotspot, change the Wi-Fi password if you do not want to use the automatically generated password. However, no password is necessary for using the USB hotspot, so you can safely adopt the automatically generated password.

TIP

In order for the USB connection to your computer to be used as a network connection, you must install the iTunes app from Apple on your Windows computer. This installs, among other things, driver software that allows the iPhone's Lightning/USB cable to be used like a network cable. iTunes for Windows can be downloaded and installed for free from Apple's website or through the Windows Store.

Now connect your iOS device to your Windows computer with the USB cable. With the hotspot activated, the cable functions like a network cable and you can transfer at the maximum USB speed between your iOS device and your computer when you switch to PhotoSync and start a transfer.
