How to configure LiveSafe 2014 to work with PhotoSync?


The following steps have to be taken to run PhotoSync Companion with McAfee LiveSafe 2014.

Open the McAfee Console by double-clicking the McAfee application icon on your desktop or in the windows task bar.

Click on Web and Email Protection to view the firewall and anti-spam settings

Click on Firewall to open the Firewall settings

Click on Internet Connections for Programs to get to the app settings for the firewall

Check if PhotoSync is already in the list. If it is, you can click on PhotoSync and click the Edit button to edit the firewall settings for PhotoSync, then skip to Step 7 of this tutorial. If PhotoSync is not in the list, click Add to create a new entry for PhotoSync.

Click on Browse... to find the PhotoSync executable on your hard disk. It should be located normally in C:\Program Files (x86)\PhotoSync. Select PhotoSync and click Open to add it.

Set the access to Full and turn Off the Net Guard.

Set the access to Full and turn Off the Net Guard. Click Save to save your settings and go back to the firewall settings and open the Ports and System Services

In Ports and System Services klick on Add to add a new rule for PhotoSync.

Enter your System Service Name, e.g. PhotoSync and if you like add a System Service Category, e.g. Photo Transfer and a Service Description. Important is the Local TCP/IP Ports setting which should contain the PhotoSync port 35722. Additionally select Open ports to All PCs. Then save your rule by clicking the Save button.

Make sure the new rule has a checkmark in the checkbox next to the rule.

Go back to the firewall settings. Congratulations. PhotoSync should work now with your McAfee LiveSafe firewall.
